Churchward School is a Good School

Following an inspection on the 24th and 25th January 2023, Ofsted judged Churchward to be a good school. The Headteacher and the Senior Leadership Team are delighted with the result, and believe this to be a true reflection of the hard work of all the staff and students.

In the report Churchward School has been graded as Good in all areas and that the praise and comments throughout reflect this. This outcome places Churchward School in a small group of free schools nationally that have achieved a Good under the new Ofsted framework.

The report highlights the varied and “ambitious curriculum” that is taught at Churchward School but is “delivered in a coherent and accessible way” which results in students being able to learn effectively. The sixth form offer at the school was also praised for supporting the outcomes of our students - “Pupils in the sixth form feel excited about their futures.”

CEO of Brunel Academies Trust, Jackie Fieldwick MBE,  said “I am so proud of the team work across Brunel including trust and school staff, parents and carers, Governors, Trustees and of course the students to ensure that Churchward is a Good school. I would like to thank all involved on the journey to Good and look forward to the Outstanding judgement in a few years. A huge well done to all involved but especially the Churchward School students.”

With just two points for improvement (both of which were acknowledged as being underway), we are elated with our first Ofsted result however we will always strive to improve in every way we can to make Churchward School the best place it can be for the incredible students that come through our doors.

We are so proud of this achievement and are honoured to share it with you.
